The Body Comes to Therapy:  Play, Connection, and the Felt Sense

Bridging Somatic Psychotherapy with the exciting new field of Interpersonal Neurobiology in an experiential, playful and enriching workshop designed to support professional and personal growth.

This dynamic workshop shows how action-oriented therapies can enliven, enrich, and inform our work with individuals and groups by accessing the body’s innate sensibility. Participants will gain experience and scientific grounding in these areas:

• The benefits of PLAY are coming to light in the field of affective neuroscience both for their role in human development as well as the buffet of uplifting hormones that enliven, energize, and engage the healing process.
• CONNECTION is built through a variety of activities that open up warm affiliations between individuals and groups.  What is really happening when we feel safe?  Gain an introduction to the Polyvagal Theory (Porges) and how to “switch on” the system of safety, warmth, social engagement, and improved health.
• The FELT SENSE is central to mindfulness and Somatic Experiencing.  This workshop helps participants tune in to the body’s whisperings to enhance intuition, kinesthetic learning, and to deepen the healing process.

Brad Kammer and Connie Lawrence are dedicated to Interpersonal Neurobiology and will deliver a workshop that is richly experiential, saturated in science, and full of take-home practices.
