The Clinical Dynamics of Safety and Social Engagement

The Polyvagal Theory has been lauded as one of the most important scientific breakthroughs in psychology over the past 50 years!  Foremost to the Polyvagal Theory is its explanation of the psychobiological process of determining safety in the presence of another; detailing how the lack of safety triggers largely unconscious defensive/survival strategies which lead to both post-traumatic reactions and long-term developmental disruptions. It has been able to help us better understand the development of conditions such as anxiety, depression, autism and trauma.

This webinar will highlight:

  • Psychobiological process of determining safety and lack of safety (“Neuroception”)
  • The main systems and channels of the Vagus Nerve
  • How fight, flight and freeze fit into the Polyvagal framework
  • Clinical application of the Polyvagal Theory

This webinar is designed for:

  • Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Social Workers and Counselors
  • Educators
  • Doctors and Nurses, particularly early child care
  • Alternative Health Care Professionals
  • Parents
